Sierre-Zinal race 2008

I was born in Uruguay, and came to Switzerland in 1976 from Argentina as a political refugee.

I currently live in Val d'Anniviers, Canton Valais.

Since 2008, I've been photographing the Sierre-Zinal race at various locations. This sporting event, which is considered one of the world's most important for this discipline, was set up by Jean-Claude Pont in 1974. For 50 years, thousands of amateur and professional racers have taken up the challenge of covering 31 kilometers with a 2200-meter vertical drop, and 1100 meters of downhill. The average time for those who finished first was around 2 hours and 35 minutes for the men and 3 hours and 20 minutes for the women. I also got to see all those who contribute to the race. Those who work in the refreshment area, at the controls, in the medical aid teams, and certainly other auxiliaries, most often volunteers. And in particular, all those who stand by the trails to support and encourage the runners.
